Hoftiezer, son of Albert and Bertha (Bleeker) Hoftiezer, was born October 7, 1928 at Castlewood, South Dakota. He worked on the family farm until 1963 when he moved to Minnesota and worked at Hastings Manufacturing Company in Hastings, Minnesota. When he retired he moved back to Watertown and was united in marriage to Margaret Althaus on February 9, 1980. While living in Watertown, Jim worked part-time at HyVee Food Store. He died on Saturday, September 6, 2003 at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 29 days. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Castlewood and also attended Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Watertown. Grateful for having shared his life are one brother, Donald Hoftiezer and his wife Jeri of Watertown; his sister-in-law, Wilma Hoftiezer of Castlewood; six nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and two brothers, Eldon and Harold Gene.
