Janice Ellen (Kangas) Efraimson was born on September 27, 1941, in Estelline, South Dakota, to Ernest and Ellen (Paso) Kangas. She married John Wesley Efraimson on September 11th, 1960. She moved to her heavenly home on October 12, 2025. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Lake Norden, SD. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Bryant, SD. Interment will take place at the Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery in rural Lake Norden, SD.
She grew up in rural Lake Norden, attending Cleveland 4, and graduated from Lake Norden High School in 1959. She attended and received her Licensed Practical Nursing degree in Mitchell, South Dakota in 1960, and worked as a nurse in various positions, lastly at the Bryant Parkview Care Center. Janice and Wesley made their home in rural Bryant where they farmed and had an electrical business. She resided in the Bryant Parkview Assisted Living for the past 6 years.
Janice was a faithful and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, and here in the Living Christianity she found a place of shelter and refuge, and faithfully served others alongside her husband.
She is survived by her five sons: Timothy (Jill), Atlantic Mine, MI; Wayne (Marcyne), Lake Norden, SD; Jeffrey (Vigdis), Willow Lake, SD; Clinton (Brenda), Bryant, SD; and Brandon (Savanah), DeSmet, SD, her 5 daughters Grace (Kevin) Kopman, Lake Norden, SD; Rebecca (Aaron) Ek, Willow Lake, SD; Carrie (Michael) Erickson, Calumet, MI; Nancy (Duane) Levanen, Bryant, SD; and Rose (Fred) Pekkala, Bryant, SD, her three brothers: David (Faith) Kangas, Brush Prairie, WA; Alvin (Mary) Kangas, Lake Norden, SD; Gordon (Delores) Kangas, Lake Norden, SD, and her three sisters: Marie Koistinen, Lake Norden, SD; Charlotte (George) Petersen, Battle Ground, WA; Genevieve (David) Halme, Battle Ground, WA, her Sister In Law Yvonne Kangas, Davenport, WA; and a host of grand children and great grand children.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wesley, her parents, and her brother, Dennis Kangas.
