Jason was born on May 5, 1985 in Estelline, SD, the son of Jim and Candy Eckert. He attended High School in Canby, MN graduating in 2004. After high school he attended the University of Minnesota- Morris where he graduated with a double major Mathematics and Music in 2008.
Jason enjoyed music, gaming, fantasy football, and movies. He was part of a band that used to get together weekly, Jason played the drums while his brother Jordan played guitar. He looked forward to these jam sessions with his brother sharing their love of music while spending time together. He loved his nieces and nephews, attending birthday parties and always thinking of the perfect gift for each of them. His love for them extended beyond birthdays by volunteering at one of his nieces' schools assembling flower boxes in her class room to give to their moms on mothers day. When it came to his nieces and nephews you would always see a smile on his face while he was around them. A conversation could easily be started by talking about the latest movie or the next release. He followed his love for movies by working at different movie theaters in Minnesota and South Dakota.
