Flora Jean (Bell) Dorman, daughter of Clement H. and Ora Myrtle (Avery) Bell, was born August 9, 1925 in Watertown, South Dakota. She spent her early years and received her education in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School in 1943. She then worked as a medical secretary in Watertown, Denver and Los Angeles. After her marriage to Wilbur Jack Dorman on October 1, 1948 in Castlewood she raised their family and also assisted him in publishing the Hamlin County Republican for many years. She was also employed as the Castlewood City Finance Officer from 1981 to 1988. After Jacks death on July 24, 1992 she continued to live in Castlewood until entering the nursing home at Minneota, Minnesota before moving to Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. She died there on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the age of 84 years.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Castlewood, the study club, Ladies Aid and the American Legion Auxiliary. Jean was a former member of the Eastern Star. Jean enjoyed doing crossword and other word puzzles and reading.
Grateful for having shared her life are four sons, Donald George Dorman (Sharon) of Cedar Rapids, IA, James Dorman (Roxanne) of Sioux Falls, John Dorman (Cheryl) of Omaha, NE, Richard Dorman (JoAnn) of Marshall, MN; 15 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Richard Bell of Brandon, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband Jack, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Donald, Roger and Owen; and two sisters, Virginia Haag and Margaret Tillma.
