Obituary

Jeri Ann Louise Drew, 64, formerly of Watertown, died Thursday, November 6, 2014 following a lengthy struggle with Pick's Dementia. She was a resident in a Lake Norden nursing care center at the time of her death. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, November 14, 2014 at Geise Funeral Chapel in Lake Norden. Visitation will be 2 hours preceding services. Jeri was born August 12, 1950 in Pierre, to Willis Jr. and Frances (Lindgren) Drew. She grew up and attended school in Philip, South Dakota, graduating from Philip High School in 1968. Following graduation Jeri enrolled in Black Hills State University, graduating in 1972 with a Bachelor's Degree in English. She then attended the University of South Dakota, earning a Master's Degree in Library Science. Jeri served as the School Librarian for the Wilmot School and later she worked in the same capacity for the Chamberlain School. In 1990, Jeri became the Watertown High School Librarian, a position she held for 16 years. Jeri loved to read and loved to encourage young people to read. She was also very active in the South Dakota Education Association. Jeri was a dog lover. Over the years she had two dogs, Samantha and Domino. They were her companions whenever possible. She retired in 2007 due to health problems and resided several places during retirement, finally entering the Golden Living Care Center in Lake Norden in 2011. Jeri is survived by one brother, Rev. Terry (Anne) Drew of Castlewood; one niece; one nephew; and two great nephews. Preceding Jeri in death were her parents, Willis and Frances Drew. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Lake Norden Care Center or the Alzheimer's Association.
