Jerome N. Ries, 73, of Sioux Falls, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 25, 2021. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at St. John's Catholic Church in Castlewood. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Tuesday, September 28 at the Church with a Rosary prayed at 6:00 pm. Geise Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jerome Nicholas Ries was born on August 8, 1948, in Watertown, SD, the son of Richard John and Marie Elizabeth (Mack) Ries. He grew up in Kranzburg, SD. He attended school in Kranzburg and Watertown, graduating from Watertown High School in 1966. He enlisted in the US Navy, served on the USS Ticonderoga during Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1970. He went to work with his cousin, operating Mack-Ries Trucking from 1971 until 1978. He was united in marriage to Gloria Langenfeld on July 28, 1973 at St. John's Catholic Church in Castlewood. Throughout the years, he completed his higher education in Project Management while he worked at Bunge Corp, Pillsbury, A.E. Staley, ProGold, Cargill, VeraSun and completed his career and retired from Valero, San Antonio, TX.

Jerome enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, riding motorcycle, and most importantly, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared his life, are his wife, Gloria Ries, of Sioux Falls, SD; his children, Nicole Ries Wesley (R. Adrian) of Normal, IL, Amber JoRies Freese (Dan) of Sioux Falls, SD, Jon D. Ries of Minot, ND, Matthew Jerome Ries (Cammy) of Lubbock, TX, and Natalie Ann

Ferdinand (Dustin) of Fairview, MT; 11 grandchildren, Conrad and Oliver Wesley, Kinley, Gracyn, Josie and Hadley Freese, Harper and Emerson Ries, Theo and Peyton Ries and Kayden Ferdinand; his siblings, Raymond (Anne) Ries of Watertown, SD, Marilyn (Mike) Miller of Otsego, MN, Linda (Dick) Perbix of Jordan, MN, Richard (Neda) Ries of Castlewood, SD, Cindy (Mike) Russell of Rochester, MN, Laura (Don) Janasak of Rochester, MN, Larry (Julie) Ries of Big Lake, MN and Nancy (Doug) Linneman of Castlewood along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Richard Ries and Marie and Jerome Mack, and his grandparents.
