Jerry L. Langenfeld, 74, of Castlewood, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society-Deuel County, in Clear Lake. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at American Lutheran Church, in Castlewood. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service starting at 9:00 am. Geise Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jerry Lee Langenfeld was born on September 20, 1941, in Castlewood, SD, the son of George and Ida (Haberly) Langenfeld. He attended school in Castlewood, and graduated from Castlewood High School in 1959. He attended South Dakota State University for a short time before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was honorably discharge in 1963. He returned to Castlewood in 1966 to take over the family business with his brother Wayne, as a food vendor and Bingo operator at Carnivals with Klein Amusements in the Midwest, until 1992. He worked construction for a few years and before becoming the grounds keeper at Lakes Region Golf Course at Lake Poinsett until he retired in 2005. He worked for Gail Nitteberg for a few years during his retirement.

Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed golfing and woodworking. He was a member of the Marine Corp. League and the American Legion Post 250.

He is survived by his son, Joseph Langenfeld, of Milford, NE, five grandchildren, Avery Langenfeld, Zoey Langenfeld, Robert Gonzales, JT Trinadad and Natalia Trinadad; two brothers, Larry Langenfeld, of Spearfish, SD and Wayne (Pam) Langenfeld , of Watertown, SD; three sisters, Beverly (Roger) Siefkes, of Boise, ID, Gloria (Jerome) Ries, of San Antonio, TX and Cynthia (David) Pommer, of Castlewood, SD and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; brother, Richard Langenfeld; sister, Delores Vetter; nephew, Joshua Langenfeld; niece, Traci Siefkes and his second mother, Vera Cannon.
