JoAlice (Williamson) Boyd was born on June 24, 1929 in Frederick, Oklahoma, the third child of Martin and Thelma (Dane) Williamson. She grew up on a farm in Tillman County, Oklahoma until she was about 13 years old when her family moved to the Dallas County, Texas area where they remained until moving to Southern California in 1943. They lived in California until returning to Texas. Jo returned to California where she worked in and around the Los Angeles area until beginning work for Pacific Bell as a telephone operator. After working for the phone company for a few years she began work as a switchboard operator for Bank of America in Los Angeles.

She was united in marriage to Raymond Boyd in 1960 in Los Angeles and raised two daughters, Donna and Grace. Over the years Jo worked her way up until she retired as the Chief of Telecommunications for Southern California. After her retirement she lived with her mother until her passing and then moved to South Dakota to live with Donna and her family. She died on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown at the age of 81 years.

Jo loved to quilt, but mostly she loved being with her family.

Grateful for having shared her life are her daughters, Donna Nelson and her husband Robert of Estelline, SD and Grace Colombo and her husband Sam of Arcadia, CA. She is also much loved by her nine grandchildren, David, Jennifer, Kelli, John, Chelsea, Megan, Sarah, Hayley and Cole; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Thelma Williamson, her sister, Evelyn Sansbury and her brothers, Martin David and Curtis.
