Joseph Kones, 88, of Watertown, passed away Friday, December 4, 2020, at his home in Watertown. Private family services will be held at a later date at the Castlewood Cemetery. Geise Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joseph "Joe" Kones was born August 12, 1932 to Nicholas & Emily "Rose" (Huss) Kones in Castlewood, SD.  He grew up and attended school in the Castlewood and Custer, SD areas.

On October 6, 1958, Joe married Faye Uckert at the First Presbyterian Church Parsonage at Castlewood, SD.  They lived near Castlewood until moving to Watertown.  In his younger years, Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and snowmobiling.  He received trophy awards for both fishing and hunting.

Joe is survived by his wife Faye of 62 years, two daughters JoAnn Kones & LynEtte Crocker, both of Watertown, SD, a grandson Jason Crocker of Sioux Falls and a granddaughter Rebecca and her husband Mitchell Benson of Shakopee, MN and 2 great granddaughters Josie & Evelyn Benson and a sister Hazel Klos of Watertown, SD and several nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and their wives, Edwin (MaryAlice) Kones, William (Mildred) Kones and Thomas (Janice) Kones and a sister Shirley and her husband Donald Jongeling and brother-in-law Francis Klos.
