Judith Ann 'Judy' (Saathoff) Foster, daughter of Gede and Cecile (Strain) Saathoff, was born July 23, 1944 at Madison, South Dakota. She grew up in Dempster, South Dakota and attended school there before attending high school in Estelline. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Foster on October 14, 1960 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Estelline. They farmed north of Estelline and Judy assisted on the farm for many years while raising her children. She worked for several years at a hardware store in Estelline before accepting a job at Bob Allen Sewing Company of Bruce and Arlington. She was employed there for several years before returning to work on the farm where she raised calves. Judy died on Friday, July 21, 2006 at her home at the age of 61 years, 11 months and 28 days.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Estelline where she was active in choir, teaching Sunday School and also served as the church treasurer for over twenty years. She also served as an EMT with the Estelline Ambulance for several years. Judy enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren's many activities, Precious Moments figurines, reading, cross-stitching and flowers.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Kenny of Estelline; their children, Robert Foster and his wife Mary Jane, Dale Foster and his wife Cindy, Donna Thompson and her husband Scott, all of Estelline, Russell Dunn-Foster and his wife Jennifer of Owatonna, MN; seven grandchildren, Dustin Foster, Joel Foster, Camille Gilligan, Adam Foster, Danielle Thompson, Josephine Dunn-Foster and Chandelle Thompson; her mother Cecile Saathoff of Estelline; one sister Donna Lamberg of Estelline; one brother Ronald Saathoff and his wife Lana of Estelline; three brothers-in-law, Stanley Foster and his wife Jean of Cary, IL, Ronald Foster and his wife Jeanette and Paul Foster and his wife Joanne, all of Estelline; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Judy was preceded in death by her father, Gede Saathoff; her mother and father-in-law, George and Della Foster; and three brothers-in-law, Darrell Foster, Curtis Foster and Willis Lamberg.
