Laurel M. Kaiser, 95, died on Sunday, September 23, 2012, at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at the United Church of Christ in Estelline, SD. Visitation will be from 4pm until 7pm, Tuesday, at the Geise Funeral Home in Estelline. Laurel was born on June 11, 1917, to Julius and Vera (Weisel) Schleuter, on a farm in Hidewood Township, Deuel County, SD. She attended grade school at Plainview School and was a graduate of the Clear Lake High School in 1935. On December 5, 1937, she was united in marriage to Fred E. Kaiser in Clear Lake, SD. Following their marriage they lived on the Kaiser farm east of Estelline, where they farmed and raised their family. On April 19, 1983, Fred passed away. Laurel continued to live on the family farm with her son Kurt until 1996, when she moved into Estelline. In June of 2000, Laurel moved to Clear Lake, SD. On May 20, 2010, Laurel entered the Estelline Nursing and Care Center where she lived until the time of her death. Laurel was an active member of the United Church Of Christ in Estelline where she was a member of the Plymouth Guild and where she also taught Sunday School for many years. Laurel enjoyed traveling and visiting friends and relatives. Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Kay Johnson of Jackson, MN, Kurt (Ramona) Kaiser of Clear lake, SD, two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one sister Lois (Albert) Stee of Clear Lake, SD; one brother Loren (Marj) Schleuter of Estelline, SD and several nieces and nephews.
