Leland G. Olson, 82, of Arlington, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023, at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am Monday, July 17, 2023, at Evangelical Covenant Church in Lake Norden. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service beginning at 9:30 am. Geise Funeral Home is assisting the family with the service.

Leland G. Olson was born on December 1, 1940, in Estelline, SD, the son of Frank and Frances (Wayrynen) Olson. He received his education in Castlewood, SD. He served in the United States Air Force from 1958 until his discharge in honorable 1962. Leland was united in marriage to Rose Marie Bowers on June 29, 1970, in Hayti, SD. He worked most of his adult life as a truck driver until his retirement in 1977.

He is a member of Evangelical Covenant Church in Lake Norden. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and fixing things. In his younger years he enjoyed trapping. A childhood picture of him was published on the Game Fish and Parks Handbook in 2009. He also enjoyed writing stories and was very computer efficient.

Leland is survived by his three daughters, Vickie (Gaylord) Woods of Brookings, SD, Frankie (Phil) Erickson of Arlington, SD and Patricia Dexter of Brookings, SD; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Carol Olson, of Watertown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rose Marie; daughter, Linda, two grandhicldren, Le and two brothers, Karlton and Harlon.
