Lena Druse Estelline, South Dakota Funeral Service 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 21, 2007 United Church Of Christ Estelline, South Dakota Pastor Deven Edinger, Officiating Visitation One hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday Interment Toronto Cemetery, Toronto, South Dakota Lena Mary (McClard) Druse was born to Harry and Sarah (Williams) McClard on November 25, 1908 near Pleasantville, Iowa. When she was seven years of age she came with her family to South Dakota and resided in Deuel County near Clear Lake. Here she received her education and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1926. She received her B.S. Degree from General Beadle Teachers College and taught school 35 years, 15 years in the country schools of Deuel and Hamlin Counties. She also taught four years in Estelline Public School and the last 16 years teaching the first grade at Woonsocket Public School. Lena retired from teaching in 1973. She was married to C. Everett Christopherson November 28, 1940. To this union two sons where born, Douglas E. Christopherson and Patrick J. Christopherson. Mr. Christopherson died on April 30, 1951 and she married Floyd Druse on May 20, 1956 and then lived in Woonsocket for 25 years. Floyd died on March 19, 1979. She then returned to Estelline and has lived here for the past 25 years. She died on Sunday, November 18, 2007 at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center at the age of 98 years, 11 months and 23 days. Lena was a member of the United Church of Christ, Eastern Star, National Retired Teachers Association, South Dakota Retired Teachers Association, Senior Citizens and had served as Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary. Grateful for having shared her life are two sons, Douglas and Sandra Christopherson of Albert Lea, MN, Patrick and Patricia Christopherson of Scottsdale, AZ; four step-children, Don and Anne Druse of Woonsocket, SD, Joan and Don Podhradsky of Pierre, SD, Patsy and Norman Duguay of Erie, PA, Shirleen Druse of Denver, CO; five grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; one brother, Cliff McClard and his wife Willie of Estelline; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents, two sisters and four brothers.
