Obituary

Leo James Olson was born in Chamberlin, SD to Leo Edward Olson and Sandra Juanita (Nylund) Olson on January 27, 1969. He passed away on February 26, 2022. He was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.

Leo lived most of his life in Vancouver, WA where his family moved to after his father's early death in 1972.

Leo worked in several different jobs throughout his life. He attended the Washington State Job Corp to become a professional Chef. He worked as a chef at several different places. Leo moved back to South Dakota in 2014, where he enjoyed working at the Hazel diner, Agropur, Lake Norden Care center, and lastly at Target. He enjoyed all the people he worked with and was loved by the residents in Lake Norden. As the activity director at the care center, he took his residents fishing, which he loved to do. He also traveled to Fort Thompson often, to be with his Aunt and Uncle and cousins there.

Leo is survived by his nephew, Michael Sam; niece, Correna Marie; many cousins, aunts, and uncles, and a host of Christian friends.

Leo was preceded in death by his father, Leo Edward Olson; mother, Sandra Juanita (Nylund) Olson; brother, Sam Michael Olson; grandparents, Archie and Lena Olson; grandparents, Al and Juanita Nylund and his uncle, Oscar Nylund.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at The Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Lake Norden, SD. Graveside services will be held at 5:00 pm on Wednesday at Riverview Cemetery in Chamberlain, SD. Geise Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
