Leola Wenzlick Castlewood, South Dakota Funeral Service 2;00 PM, Wednesday, August 18, 2004 American Lutheran Church Castlewood, South Dakota Rev. John Sandstrom, Officiating Visitation 5PM to 8PM Tuesday at Geise Funeral Home in Castlewood Interment Castlewood Cemetery Leola Etta Wenzlick, age 68, beloved wife of Richard G. Wenzlick and devoted daughter of her mother, Elsbeth Carlisle, died Saturday, August 14, 2004, after a long, hard battle with cancer. Leola (Carlisle) Wenzlick, daughter of Harvey L. and Elsbeth K. (Namken) Carlisle, was born June 13, 1936 in Estelline, South Dakota. She was baptized in the American Lutheran Church in Castlewood and was raised on the family farm south of Castlewood. She graduated from Castlewood High School and was united in marriage to Richard G. Wenzlick in Rapid City, South Dakota on September 29, 1961. She was a devoted wife and mother throughout her husbands Air Force career. After his Air Force retirement in 1975 they moved to Sullivan, Wisconsin where they farmed and had a small trucking business. During that time she worked as a supervisor in an electronics manufacturing company. In 1991, they sold the farm and moved back to Leolas hometown of Castlewood where they continued in their trucking business and lived there until her passing. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Rapid City, the American Legion Auxiliary in Castlewood and the TREA Auxiliary. She loved being outdoors and nature. She also enjoyed fishing in the creek, her cats, and her flowers. She loved visiting with friends and family and writing letters and doing crosswords. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Richard of Castlewood; two sons, Kenneth Lee Wenzlick of Castlewood and his two children, Colleen and Richard, Len Harvey and his wife Debra of Iron Ridge, WI, and their two children, Joshua and Jessica; her mother, Elsbeth Carlisle of Castlewood; one brother, Ray Carlisle and his wife Kay of Pasco, WA and their five children; and two sisters, Bernice Henderson of Hayti, SD and her four children and Nancy White of Orlando, FL and her five children; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey L. Carlisle of Castlewood.
