IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leroy
Bleeker
May 25, 1944 – October 15, 2021
Leroy Bleeker, 77, of Estelline, passed away on October 14th.
Leroy was born on May 25 th , 1944 to Eldon and Agnes in Castlewood, SD. At the age of 13, his parents moved the family to Southern California. He spent the next 31 years of his life in the Los Angeles area. During his time there, he made lasting friendships, raced boats, and drove truck. He also met and wed Lori Openshaw. During their marriage, they were blessed with three children. Unfortunately, the first two were called home to the Lord at birth, but their desire for a child was granted by the Lord when their third child, Matthew, was born.
Leroy and Matthew moved in with his mother Agnes in the mid 80's and eventually moved back to South Dakota in the summer of 1988. They settled in the Estelline area where Leroy continued to drive truck and build deep and lasting friendships with many in the Estelline area and surrounding communities.
Leroy worked very hard and was determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of his son Matthew, his daughter-in-law Jaimie and his grandchildren Hailey, Ashlynn, and Emilie and always bragging about them to anyone that was willing to listen. He was known as a man that would do anything for and always be there for his friends and family.
Anyone who knew Leroy knew that he was the most loving father, grandfather, and friend a person could ask for. Leroy was predeceased by two children, his father Eldon, mother Agnes, and sister Ruth. He is survived by his brothers Eldon, Larry and Dale, son Matthew, daughter-in-law Jaimie, and grandchildren Hailey, Ashlynn, and Emilie.
Memorial Service of celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, November 5, 2021 at The Estelline American Legion Hall, Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:00 pm. Geise Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
