LeRoy Koistinen was born on February 9, 1923 in Hamlin County, South Dakota the son of Charles and Ida (Trevo) Koistinen. He died on Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at the Beverly Health Care Center at the age of 80 years. LeRoy received his education in rural school in Hamlin County, SD. He served in the United States Navy from July 1944 until May 1946. He was united in marriage to Ina Mae Engles on December 1, 1945 in Watertown, SD. After their marriage he was employed at the Norden Motor Company. He then owned and operated Roys Garage until 1966. After moving to Richfield, MN, he worked at various auto dealerships until his retirement in 1986. In 1987, he moved back to South Dakota. Ina Mae died on June 16, 1987. Roy has been a resident of the Beverly Health Care facility since May of 1987. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Norden. Roy is survived by one son Steve Koistinen of Burnsville, MN; two grandchildren Victoria and Nicole; three brothers George Wally Koistinen (Anna Lorraine), Clarence Koistinen (Marie), Verner Koistinen (Helen); two sisters Elsie Martilla (Marvin), Eldora Juntunen (Erland) all of Lake Norden, SD.
