Monday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline. Leslie Byron Williams, son of George and Clara (Weaverstad) Williams, was born August 3, 1910, in Lyman County, near Vivian, South Dakota. He grew up and received his education in rural schools in Lyman County and also attended school in Vivian. He also attended business college at Nettleton in Sioux Falls. Following his marriage to Marie Giddings on June 8, 1940 in Rapid City, South Dakota they farmed in Lyman County until 1948 when they moved to Hamlin County. They farmed near Estelline until 1974 when they retired and moved into Estelline. Les entered the Estelline Nursing and Care Center on January 19, 2005. He died there on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at the age of 97 years, 5 months and 28 days. He was a member of the United Church of Christ where he served many offices within the church and was also a member of the Estelline Senior Citizens. Grateful for having shared his life are one son, George Williams and his wife Catherine of Denton, TX; one daughter, Janet Larson of Brainerd, MN; three grandsons, Erik Larson, Benjamin Larson and his wife Amy and John Larson and his wife Amanda; one great granddaughter, Mykenzie Larson; two brothers, Donald Williams of Huron, SD, Kenneth Williams of Anoka, MN; one brother-in-law, Leroy Clare of Wakonda, SD; one sister-in-law Cecelia Norman of Hemet, CA; and a host of other relatives and friends. Les was preceded in death by his wife Marie on February 10, 2006, his parents, one brother Lloyd and one sister Twyla Clare.
