Lois G. Rames, 84, of Watertown, formerly of Estelline, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the Jenkins Living Center. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the United Church of Christ in Estelline, SD with graveside services being held at 2:30 pm at Rest Haven Cemetery in Alpena, SD. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, September 16, 2016 at Geise Funeral Chapel, in Estelline, SD.

Lois Geraldine Rumple was born on July 24, 1932, in Arlington, SD, the daughter of John and Dorothy (Durfey) Rumple. She grew up in the Arlington area and attended school in Arlington, graduation from Arlington High School in 1953. She worked in a dental office as a Dental Assistant for a few years following school. She was united in marriage to Ronald Rames on September 23, 1956, in Arlington, SD. The couple lived in Fort Leonard Wood, MO for two years, while Ronald was in the service. They lived in Britton, SD, briefly before making home in Huron, SD. Lois stayed home to keep the house and raise their children. She worked at a jewelry store and for the Huron School System for a few years, once the children were in high school. The couple then made their home in Estelline, SD for 20 years before retiring to Watertown in 2013.

Lois was active in Archery for a number of years while living in Huron and especially enjoyed birdwatching and spending winters in Texas. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and hosting family gatherings.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Rames, of Watertown, SD; four children, Michael Rames, of Alpena, SD, Richard Rames, of Mitchell, SD, Susan (Mark, II) Meidinger, of Alexandria, SD and Paul Rames, of Mitchell, SD; four grandchildren, Damien, Kaleah, Sharra and Mark; one brother, Robert Rumple, of Fargo, ND and two sisters, Audrey Landauer, of Brookings, SD and Crystal (Marlyn) Kannegieter, of Willow Lake, SD.

She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter-in-law, Cindy Rames.
