Lucille Marie (Wingle) Nelson, daughter of John and Agnes (Bennet) Wingle, was born November 16, 1926 at Pipestone, Minnesota. When she was 12 years old her family moved to Madison, South Dakota. She graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School and attended Stewart's School of Cosmetology in Sioux Falls. Lucille was united in marriage to Armin D. Nelson on January 29, 1946 in Madison. They farmed in the Rutland, South Dakota area before moving to a farm near Estelline in 1963. After their children were raised, she worked as a dietician at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center and at Brookview Manor in Brookings. They retired and moved to Watertown in 1991 and Armin died on October 30, 2000. She continued to live in Watertown until moving to Estelline. She died on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at her home in Estelline at the age of 88 years. She was a former member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Watertown and a current member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic in Estelline where she was also a member of the Altar Society. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking and her hobbies included reading and playing cards. Grateful for having shared her life are five sons, Keith (Linda) Nelson of Gig Harbor, WA, Jerry (Margaret) Nelson of Buffalo, SD, Henry Nelson of Lakewood, CO, Daniel Nelson of Ft. Walton, FL, Russell Nelson of Estelline; four daughters, Carlene (Larry) Rust and Sue (Donald) Zafft, both of Estelline, Bonnie (Mike) Tennyson of Custer, SD, Teresa (Tom) Kellar of Rapid City, SD; one daughter-in-law Donna Nelson of Brookings; 18 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Armin; one son Duane; five grandchildren, Douglas Zafft, Darin Rust, Benjamin Nelson, Mitchell Nelson and Jill Tennyson; two brothers, James and Bud; and two sisters, Alice and Rose. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 19, 2015 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Estelline. Visitation will be from 5PM to 7PM Friday at the church followed by a Scripture Service at 7PM.
