Lyle M. McDaniels, 85, of Bryant, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Prairie Lakes Hospital, in Watertown. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, in rural Lake Norden, SD. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday at the church. Geise Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lyle Mark McDaniels was born on August 11, 1932, in Vancouver, WA, the son on Claude and Mary 'Lizzie' (Abernathy) McDaniels. He grew up in Yacolt, WA and attended school in Chelatchie Prairie through the 8th grade. Lyle went to work in Chelatchie Prairie Saw Mill and worked in in the Logging Industry. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1956. He was united in marriage to Jennie 'Elaine' Efraimson on April 10, 1957, in Watertown, SD. He farmed in the Lake Norden in Bryant area for 10 years before moving his family to Battle Ground, WA. He continued his career in the logging industry until he and Elaine moved to Lone Pine, MT where he ranched for a few years. In 1993, the couple retired to Bryant, SD where he helped friends locally, working odd jobs for them until he was 80 years old.

Lyle was a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jennie Elaine McDaniels, of De Smet, SD; 8 children, Paul (Lois) McDaniels, of Bryant, SD, Stan (Liisa) McDaniels, of Willow Lake, SD, Carolyn (Marty) Anderson, of Eden Prairie, MN, Susan (John) Hervi, of Willow Lake, SD, Terry (Mary) McDaniels, of Yacolt, WA, Teresa (Mark) Wilen, of Vienna, SD, Julie (Justin) Hymans, of Willow Lake, SD and Charles (Tamara) McDaniels, of Hot Springs, MT; 76 grandchildren; 97 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Raydene McDaniels, of Battle Ground, WA and a host of relatives and friends.

Lyle is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Elmer (Anna) and Earl and two grandsons, John David McDaniels and Marcus Kyle Wilen.
