Donald Schumacher, Officiating Interment Trinity Lutheran Cemetery Lake Norden, South Dakota Closed Casket Visitation 5PM to 8PM Monday at Geise Funeral Chapel in Lake Norden Lyle Nelson, son of Charles and Saima (Huotari) Nelson, was born July 3, 1922 on the family farm in Norden Township, Hamlin County, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church and was raised on the family farm near Lake Norden where he attended rural school in Norden #6 through the eighth grade. Lyle took over the family farm at the age of 16 due his fathers failing health. He was united in marriage to Pearl Veneklasen on April 15, 1944 in the Lutheran Parsonage in Bryant, South Dakota by Rev. Peterson. They farmed near Lake Norden. They moved into Lake Norden in 1991. Lyle died on Friday, January 30, 2004 at the family farm near Lake Norden at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 27 days. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and was sexton of Trinity Lutheran Cemetery for many years. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Pearl of Lake Norden; three sons, Darwin and his wife Barb of Kokomo, IN, Larry and his wife Rose and Roger and his wife Pat, all of Lake Norden; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Viola Lee of Lake Norden and Ethel Mastel of Huron, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Mercedes.
