MARTIN GLENN BILL JOHNSON was born on October 17, 1927 in Dempster, South Dakota, the son of MM and Bessie (McLaughlin) Johnson. He attended country school in Hamlin County, South Dakota and later graduated from Estelline High School in 1945. After graduation, he worked at various jobs mainly doing road construction. On February 5, 1961, he was united in marriage to Kay Kaiser in Estelline. Then in 1963, he attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls for 2 years, and then he went to Gupton-Jones Mortuary School in Dallas, Texas, graduating in 1966. He then worked at funeral homes in Chamberlain and Milbank, both in South Dakota. Before owning and operating Johnson Furniture and Stewart Funeral Home in Stewart, Minnesota. In 1978, he moved to Jackson and worked at the Sathe and Son Funeral Home for 13 years. He and Kay then spent winters in Arizona working at flea markets. Bill died on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at Jackson, Minnesota at the age of 82 years.
Glenn was a member of the United Methodist Church in Jackson. He had enjoyed playing golf and fishing in his younger years and loved to go to the Legion and play cards. He had belonged to the Masons in Brownton, Minnesota.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kay Johnson of Jackson, 2 daughters, Glenice (Rick) Karnes of Mankato, Minnesota and Gena (Walt) Damgaard of Valley Springs, South Dakota, 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Meyer of Middleburg, Florida, Monica Meyer of Mankato, Minnesota, Mallory Meyer of Valley Springs, South Dakota and Bill Foight of Valley Springs, South Dakota, 4 great-grandchildren and 2 nephews, Charles Johnson of Lake Norden, South Dakota and Larry Johnson of Orchard, Colorado.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Howard Johnson.

His funeral will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 19, 2010 at the United Church of Christ in Estelline. Visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00PM Thursday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline.
