Mable H. Hoffelt Sioux Falls, South Dakota (Formerly of Estelline) Funeral Service 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 23, 2004 United Church Of Christ Estelline, South Dakota Rev. Joyce Anderson and Rev. Don Davis, Officiating Interment Hillcrest Cemetery Estelline, South Dakota Visitation 2PM to 5PM Sunday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline Mable H. (Hooker) Hoffelt, daughter of George and Mary (Furrie) Hooker, was born November 25, 1914 near Humbolt, South Dakota. She received her early education in rural schools in Minnehaha County. She and her family moved to Estelline in her teenage years and she was married to Charles E. Hoffelt in Estelline on November 19, 1936. She spent most of her adult life working at Hoffelt Drug Store in Estelline, where she became like an extra grandmother to several generations of area children with her friendly smile, kind words and penny candies. Charles died on August 15, 1988 and she continued to operate the family store for several years. Mable moved to Sioux Falls in 2000. She died on Thursday, February 19, 2004 at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 24 days. She was a lifetime member of the United Church of Christ in Estelline and an active lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Grateful for having shared her life are one son, Gerry Hoffelt and his wife Linda of Brookings; one daughter, Zoe Geise and her husband Douglas of Sioux Falls; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one sister, Leona Veneklasen of Estelline; a special niece, June Schulz and her husband Tim of Brandon, SD; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend and caregiver, Pam Schmidt of Sioux Falls. Mable was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sons, Frederick and Howard, five sisters and three brothers.
