Mae Mary (Norman) DeBoer, daughter of Henry and Reka (DeWall) Norman, was born May 2, 1926 in Hamlin County near Dempster, South Dakota. She grew up in that area and attended school in Dempster. Mae was united in marriage to Clarence DeBoer on November 27, 1942 in Neosho, Missouri and after his discharge from the U.S. Army in 1946 they returned to South Dakota and farmed in the Castlewood-Estelline area until retiring and moving into Estelline in 1976. Clarence died on March 18, 2005 and Mae continued to make Estelline her home until moving to rural Bruce, South Dakota to live with her daughter Darlene. Mae entered the Estelline Nursing and Care Center in February of 2006 and died there on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the age of 86 years. She was a life member of Hamlin Reformed Church and enjoyed hunting with Clarence, camping trips to Ft. Sisseton and spending time with her family. Grateful for having shared her life are two daughters, Darlene Ludwig and her husband Leonard of Bruce, SD, Deb Brandsrud and her husband Wade of Estelline; one son Ricky DeBoer and his wife Gengi of Maui, HI; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mae was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, her parents, one brother and two sisters. Her funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Hamlin Reformed Church. Visitation will be from 4PM to 7PM Tuesday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline.
