Steve Barnett, Officiating Interment St. Francis de Sales Catholic Cemetery Estelline, South Dakota Visitation 2PM to 5PM Sunday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline and prior to both services at the church. Mardell (Linneman) Roehs, daughter of George and Josephine (Loneman) Linneman, was born August 31, 1920 at Estelline, South Dakota. When she was a year and a half her family moved to a farm near Dempster, South Dakota and she received her education in a country school near there and was later employed at the Harold Williscroft farm for 16 years. She was united in marriage to Louis Fred Roehs on July 9, 1945 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Estelline. They moved to Pierre, South Dakota on February 28, 1958 and she worked at the Terrace Motel from 1958 to 1961 and was then employed as a cashier at the Red Owl Store in Pierre from 1961 to 1964. Louis died on November 19, 1961. As Louis and Mardell had no children, she decided to move to Presho, South Dakota on April 19, 1964 and become housekeeper at the Leo Terca farm home. The three boys, Scott (22 months), Jim (five years) and Stanley (nine years) meant the world to Mardell and fulfilled her life over the next 25 1/2 years. She moved into Presho in 1989 and returned to Estelline to be near her family on September 21, 1990. She entered the Estelline Nursing and Care Center in February of 2003 and died Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at the Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown at the age of 82 years, 8 months and 6 days. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and was always a very loving and caring person and would always be there to help one out. Grateful for having shared her life are one brother Donald Linneman and his wife Shirley of Castlewood, SD; two sisters, Jane Boettcher of Watertown, SD and Darlene Bakke of Herrin, IL; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and three brothers, Kenneth, Vincent and Edward.
