Margaret N. Oines was born on March 28, 1912, in Ellsworth, Wisconsin, the daughter of Alfred and Helga (Glem) Larson. She spent her early years and received her education in Ellsworth and graduated in 1930. She then attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota for two years where she met her future husband. She was united in marriage to Henry B. Oines on September 8, 1932, in Ellsworth. After their marriage they farmed for two years near Volga, South Dakota then moved to Minneapolis to work for Montgomery-Ward. Margaret and Henry bought the International Harvester dealership in Estelline and moved to Estelline in 1938. The business was sold in 1949 and farming near Estelline became the family business. Henry died on April 28, 2005. Margaret died on Monday, February 2, 2009, at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center at the age of 96 years.
Margaret was a full time housewife and mother. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Womens Study Club, and the Ladies Aid. She was the church organist for a number of years and taught Sunday School. After Henry retired from farming, they spent their summers in Estelline and became snowbirds by living in Arizona during the winter months.
Margaret is survived by three sons, Ronald and his wife Audrey of Estelline, Robert and his wife Marianne of North Port, Florida, Roger and his wife Mildred of Brookings; nine grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry, a son Richard, two brothers and two sisters.
