Marie (Pearson) Urevig, daughter of Max and Helen (Stroup) Pearson, was born April 5, 1917 at Ponca, Nebraska. She received her education in Ponca , Sioux City, Iowa and South Sioux City, Nebraska. After her marriage to George Urevig on July 31, 1935 in Elk Point, South Dakota, they farmed near Castlewood, South Dakota for six years. They moved to a farm near Thomas, South Dakota and later to Badger, South Dakota where they owned and operated the caf and grocery store for 14 years. George died on August 5, 1979 in Badger and Marie continued to live in Badger until moving to Watertown, South Dakota in 1997. She entered the Beverly Healthcare in Lake Norden on May 24, 2002 and died there on Saturday, April 10, 2004 at the age of 87 years and 5 days. She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Lake Norden and a member of the Covenant Women. She enjoyed bowling, doing handywork, playing cards, birdwatching, Minnesota Twins Baseball and Chicago Bulls Basketball.. Grateful for having shared her life are three sons, Darrel Urevig of Badger, Ronald Urevig and his wife Linda of Gettysburg, SD, Bob Urevig and his wife Clea of Watertown, SD; one daughter, Phyllis Norgaard and her husband Daryl of Badger; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Kruse and her husband Orville of Carpentersville, IL, Maxene Beller and her husband Frank of Omaha, NE; one brother, Donald Pearson and his wife Lois of Sioux City, IA; and a host of other relatives and friends. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, one son Wayne in 1974, one granddaughter, her parents, and one brother Lloyd.
