Mark Raasch Castlewood, South Dakota Funeral Service 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 4, 2008 First Presbyterian Church Castlewood, South Dakota Rev. Terry Drew, Officiating Interment Castlewood Cemetery, Castlewood, SD Visitation 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at Geise Funeral Chapel in Castlewood. Mark Steven Raasch, son of Robert and Donna (Somsen) Raasch, was born August 26, 1955 in Watertown, South Dakota. He grew up and received his education at Castlewood and graduated from Castlewood High School in 1973. He attended college at South Dakota State University in Brookings and Dakota State University in Madison. Mark also attended the Police Academy in Pierre and began his career in law enforcement as a police officer in Watertown in 1977. He was united in marriage to Nora Boadwine on June 23, 1979 in Castlewood. He then farmed with his father before serving as a Hamlin County Deputy Sheriff and was currently the Chief Jailor with the Codington County Sheriff Department. Mark died on Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at his home at the age of 52 years, 4 months and 5 days. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Castlewood and the Fraternal Order of Police and also was a Notary Public. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars, woodworking and chopping wood. Mark was very family orientated and especially enjoyed his children and grandchildren. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Nora of Castlewood; three sons, Levi and Mark, Jr., both of Castlewood, Robert and his wife Amber of Watertown; two grandchildren, Kaidyn and Hailee; his parents, Robert and Donna of Castlewood; two brothers, Charles and his wife Sandy of Alexandria, VA, Paul of Webster, SD; two sisters, Rose Stroup and her husband Randy of Stockholm, SD, Karen Froelich and her husband Pat of Lemmon, SD; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his daughter Corrie Lou in 1997.
