Martin Adolph Gorder, 75, of Estelline, SD, died Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Prairie Lakes Community Hospital, Watertown. Funeral Services have been set for 10:30am Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Estelline. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Geise Funeral Home, Estelline.
Martin Adolph Gorder was born June 9, 1934 the youngest son of Martin A. and Cecilia (Floden) Gorder. He was born on the family farm. He received his education from Grange Country School #28 and Estelline Public Schools.
On November 6, 1954 he was united in marriage to Sue Ann Otterdahl at Bethany Lutheran Church, Astoria, SD. To this union they were blessed with two children, Cindy and Michael.
Martin was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed riding horses, sports of all kinds and fishing trips to Canada, the Missouri River as well as the Gulf of Mexico. Martin and Sue enjoyed traveling and spent many winters in Texas.
Martin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church serving on many of the church boards.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sue Gorder of Estelline; his daughter, Cindy (Terry) Sundvold of Brandon; his son, Mike (Ann) Gorder of Estelline; four grandchildren, Marne Gorder, Hilary Gorder, Max Gorder and Wyatt Sundvold; one brother, Richard (Joyes) Gorder of Watertown; three sisters, Junice (Oliver) Wolden of Watertown, Olga (Andy) Lenander of Watertown and Pearl Watt of Estelline and a sister-in-law, Helen Gorder of Watertown.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Myrtle Gorder, two brothers, Donald Gorder and Arnold Gorder and his wife Gladys and one brother-in-law, Angus Watt.
