Brenden was born on February 17, 1921 at Vienna, South Dakota, the son of Olaf and Agnes (Jorgenson) Brenden. He received his education in rural school near Vienna. He then entered the United States Navy and served from 1942 to 1946. He was united in marriage to Nadene J. Glines on July 2, 1949 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1952, they moved to Hamlin County near Dempster, SD where he worked as a mechanic until his retirement in 1995. He died on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at his residence in Dempster at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 3 days. He was a member of the St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dempster, the American Legion and the VFW. He especially enjoyed reading, fishing and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.. Marvin is survived by his wife Nadene of Dempster; one son Kendall Brenden and his wife Mary of Dempster; two daughters Jodi Johnson and her husband Sheldon, Lanis Lantgen and her husband Kenny, all of Estelline, S.D.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; three brothers, Merle Brenden and his wife Ann, Lloyd Brenden and his wife Dorothy, all of Mesa, AZ, Harold Brenden and his wife Edith of Mitchell, SD; three sisters, Irene Blegan of Mesa, AZ, Myrtle Dede of Sioux Falls, SD, Alice Siebrandts and her husband Matt of Henry, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Laura; four brothers,Orlin, Leo, Ellwood and Arlo; and one sister, Gladys Zimprich.
