Obituary

MayDelle Boadwine, 87, of Lake Norden, SD passed away on Monday, December4th, 2017 at the Lake Norden Care and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, December 9, 2017, at the Hayti Lutheran Church in Hayti, SD. Rev. Randy Eisenbeisz will officiate. Music will be sung by the congregation, with Jaret Stormo as pianist.

Active Pallbearers are her Grandchildren: Jaret, Daniel, Jason, Damon, Ryan, Ben, Nick, and Joel Stormo, Chantel Sprang, Shayna Lamb, Samantha Walder, Shannon Symens, Sara Mack.

Great grandchildren are her Honorary Pallbearers.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 8th, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Geise Funeral Chapel in Lake Norden and at the church prior to the services.

M ayDelle Marvelyn Ercelle Boadwine, daughter of Emil and Thelma (Tuohino) Kangas of was born on August 17, 1930, in Hamlin County, South Dakota. She attended Hayti #1 through the 8th grade and graduated from Hayti High School in 1948. She attended Augustana College. In 1949 she married Howard Stormo, to this union 6 children were born. On April 8, 1971 she married Robert Boadwine. MayDelle lived on the same farm for 62 years. After retiring they made their home in Lake Norden. MayDelle entered a Memory Care Unit on July 1, 2013. She later moved to the Lake Norden Care Center. She died on December, 4th 2017 at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 17 days.

As MayDelle grew up she sang – on the radio, church choir, church soloist, weddings, anniversaries, funerals, McAllen Mobile Park chorus, and more. Her dad bought her, her first horse (Pal) and they instantly became inseparable. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, canning, making pickles, jams, jelly, and in the earlier years raising chickens. She also enjoyed making rugs. MayDelle belonged to the Merry Mixers Extension Club for many years. She was active on the farm helping Bob however she could, including hauling grain to the elevator. She enjoyed the outdoors all her life. MayDelle and Bob spent 20 plus winters in McAllen, Texas where they met many lifelong friends. She thoroughly enjoyed raising her six children and going to her grandchildren's activities.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Bob, of Castlewood; her children: Rodney (Monica) Stormo of Hayti, SD, Kevin (Joan) Stormo of Lake Norden, SD, Lois (Alan) Mack of Brookings, SD, Mark (Cathy) Stormo of Bryant, SD, Ann Stormo of Watertown, SD and daughter-in-law Donna Stormo of Hayti.  13 grandchildren: Chantel Sprang, Jaret Stormo, Shayna Lamb, Samantha Walder, Daniel Stormo, Jason Stormo, Damon Stormo, Ryan Stormo, Shannon Symens, Sara Mack, Ben Stormo, Nick Stormo, and Joel Stormo. And 23 great grandchildren:  Mara and Jake Sprang, Baby Lamb, Leah and Martin Walder, Chase, Taylor and Kolbi Stormo, Evan, Jack, Paige, and Will Stormo, Rupert, Burk and  Messur Stormo, Marnie and Ryker Symens, Hailey and Carson Stormo, Kendra Stormo, Jackson, Madison and Alison Stormo.

MayDelle was preceded in death by her parents, son Lynn (2016), twin sisters Marcine and Maxine, an infant brother Calvin Emil, and grandson Donnie Stormo.
