Merle H. Sikkink Castlewood, South Dakota Funeral Service 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 7, 2003 Hamlin Reformed Church Rural Castlewood, South Dakota Rev. Edward Schuer, Officiating Interment Hamlin Reformed Cemetery Rural Castlewood, South Dakota Visitation 5PM to 8PM Sunday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline. Merle Henry Sikkink, son of Lloyd and Nellie (Cook) Sikkink, was born April 19, 1917 in Hamlin County, South Dakota. He grew up and received his education in Hamlin County and attended Castlewood High School. He began farming and was united in marriage to Dorothy DeBoer on February 16, 1954 in Ivanhoe, Minnesota. After their marriage they continued to farmed near Castlewood all of their adult life. Merle entered the Estelline Nursing and Care Center on August 28, 2001 and died there on Thursday, April 3, 2003 at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 14 days. He was a member of the Hamlin Reformed Church where he took care of maintenance for many years. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Dorothy of Castlewood; two daughters, Leanne Volk and her husband Myron of Lake Norden, SD, Lori Koisti and her husband Kerry of Cedar Falls, IA; one son, Rollie Sikkink of Castlewood; five grandchildren; one brother Lloyd Sikkink and his wife Ruth of Castlewood; four sisters, Phyllis Bruinsma of Castlewood, Marcella Pajerski of Salt Lake City, UT, Mary Bartlett and her husband Jim and Marlys Robbins and her husband Larry, all of Ocala, FL; and a host of other relatives and friends. Merle was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son and one brother.
