Odella Kangas Bryant, South Dakota Funeral Service 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 14, 2005 Old Apostolic Lutheran Church Lake Norden, South Dakota Interment Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery Lake Norden, South Dakota Visitation 2PM to 5PM Sunday at Geise Funeral Chapel in Lake Norden. Odella Delores (Thue) Kangas, daughter of Carl and Rachel (Bentley) Thue, was born March 24, 1920 on a farm near Lake Norden, South Dakota. She grew up and received her education in Lake Norden and attended college at General Beadle in Madison, South Dakota. She taught school at Opdahl # 1 and Cleveland # 2. She was united in marriage to Wesley Kangas on June 14, 1940 in Watertown, South Dakota. They farmed near Bryant until they retired in 1981. Wesley died on November 3, 2002. Odella entered Beverly Healthcare in Lake Norden in the fall of 2004 and died there on Tuesday, February 9, 2005 at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 15 days. Odella was baptized and confirmed at Garfield Lutheran Church and is a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and being with her family. Grateful for having shared her life are two daughters, Linda Devitt and her husband Joe of Spirit Lake, IA, Susan Wilson and her husband James of Woodbury, MN; two sons, Alfred Kangas and Terry Kangas, both of Bryant; five grandchildren, Timothy, Chad (Mercedes), and Jon (Robyn) Devitt, Lisa (Scott) Weis and David Wilson; seven great grandchildren, Mia, Jessica, Kelly, Claudia, Olivia, Chase and Samuel; one brother, Harold Thue of Lake Norden; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Wesley, her parents, and four brothers.
