Olive Bernice Nitteberg Estelline, South Dakota Funeral Service 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 9, 2005 Trinity Lutheran Church Estelline, South Dakota Rev. Ann E.S. Webb, Officiating Interment East Norden Luthean Cemetery Lake Norden, South Dakota Visitation 5PM to 7PM Friday at Geise Funeral Home in Estelline Olive Bernice Nitteberg, daughter of Charles and Ida (Tofley) Nitteberg, was born October 29, 1911 in Haakon County, South Dakota. In 1912 she moved with her family to Stone Bridge Resort in Hamlin County on Lake Poinsett. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline. She attended rural school in Hamlin County and worked with her family at Stone Bridge for many years. In 1928, on the 50th anniversary of Hamlin County, Olive was one of the young ladies that placed a wreath and spoke at the monument which is near the resort. Olive worked in Pasadena, California for three years from 1956 to 1959 and also worked a short time in Arlington, Virginia. She returned to Lake Poinsett and worked at Stone Bridge until her retirement. She entered the Estelline Nursing and Care Center in March of 1998 and died there on Monday, April 4, 2005 at the age of 93 years, 5 months and 5 days. She loved entertaining her niece and nephew and great nieces. Olive enjoyed crafts, arts, knitting, crocheting and embroidery as well as playing cards and games with the youth and ice fishing and boating. Grateful for having shared her life are one brother Clair Nitteberg and his wife Merlyne of Lake Poinsett; one nephew Gale Nitteberg and his wife Sandy; one niece Connie Stehly; two great nieces, Gayla Greene and her husband Jeremy and Tori Jo Yonker; several great great nieces and nephews; one step great nephew; two step great nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother John Nitteberg and one sister Erma E. Nitteberg.
