Orie Verhoek, 92, of Estelline, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am Friday, January 13, 2016 at Mt. Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Estelline. Visitation will be from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm Thursday at Geise Funeral Chapel in Estelline.

Orie Verhoek was born on April 18, 1924 in Castleton, ND, the son of Henry and Mattie (Aamen) Verhoek.  Orie received his education in Deuel County, SD. He was united in marriage to Rebecca 'Becky' Schnoor in December 13, 1961, in Brookings County. After their marriage, they farmed in Hamlin County until their retirement in 1991, when they moved into Estelline.

Orie enjoyed riding motorcycle, restoring old gasoline engines and taking them to various events, playing cards, playing his accordion, and going to sales.

Orie is survived by his wife, Becky, of Estelline, SD; son, David Verhoek, and his wife LeeAnn, of Bruce, SD; daughter, Carla Verhoek, of Hulstead, MN; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Marion Verhoek, of Sioux Falls, SD; one sister, Dena Volt, of Fruitport, MI; one sister-in-law, Arlene Verhoek, of Estelline, SD and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, John Corny, Niece, Garritt and Henry, and two sisters, Cora and Jennie.
