Orpha Geneva (Almos) Anderson, daughter of John and Mary (Hammer) Almos, was born May 2, 1917 in Watertown, South Dakota. She received her education in rural school in Hamlin County and later in the Estelline Schools. She was united in marriage to Wesley Anderson on November 19, 1935 in Seattle, Washington. In 1945 they moved to Estelline and lived there until moving to Lake Norden in 1961. Orpha was employed at the Lake Norden Creamery for nine years and was later employed at Koehn Manufacturing in Watertown. Wesley died on October 31, 1979 and she continued to make Lake Norden her home. Orpha entered the Golden Living Center in Lake Norden in 2001 and died there on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the age of 94 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Senior Citizens. Grateful for having shared her life are three daughters, LaVonne Johnson of Bryant, SD, Joy Peterson and her husband Ray of Corson, SD, Shari Kangas and her husband DeWayne of Blaine, MN; one son Richard Anderson of Lake Norden; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; one sister-in-law Evy Johnson of Adair, OK; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, seven brothers and three sisters. Her funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Norden. Visitation will be from 4PM to 7PM Tuesday at Geise Funeral Chapel in Lake Norden.
