Orville E. Krause, 91, of Estelline, passed way Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the Brookings Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 31, 2017 at Hidewood Zion Lutheran Church, in rural Clear Lake. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday at the church with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 pm. Geise Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Orville E. Krause was born on July 4, 1925, in Deuel County, SD, the son of John and Ida (Klippstein) Krause. He was baptized on August 23, 1925 and confirmed on July 7, 1940 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Havana Township. Orville received his education in rural school at District #49 in Deuel County, SD. After receiving his education, he farmed until entering the United States Army in 1950, serving during the Korean Conflict until his discharge in 1952. Orville was united in marriage to Lavonna Niemann on October 25, 1953, in Clear Lake, SD. Following their marriage, they farmed in Grange Township, rural Deuel County. Lavonna passed away September 24, 2005, in Estelline, SD. Orville continued to live on the farm.
He was a member of Hidewood Zion Lutheran Church since 1953 and is a past member of the Grange Township Board. Orville enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially time spent with his family and friends. He loved farming, as it was his lifelong passion.
Orville is survived by his two daughters, Julie (Russell) Hamann, of Clear Lake, SD and Debra (Ronald) Schwartz, of White; two sons, Danny (Shirley) Krause, of Estelline, SD and Garry (Sherri) Krause, of Estelline, SD; 14 grandchildren, Trever (Lana) Schwartz, Elizabeth (Adam) Beduhn, Ellen Hamann, Teresa (Patrick) Mallett, Reid (Alysha) Hamann, Ruth (Terry) Tvedt, Robyn (Heath) Bruna, Travis Krause (fiancé Melinda), John(Geona) Krause, Katelynn (Joshua) Larson, Sarah (Earl) Clements, Samuel Krause, Kendal Krause and Alice Krause; 18 great grandchildren, Dylan (fiancé, Brooke), Morgan and Denton Schwartz, Thomas and Brookelynn Mallett, Collin, Aaron and Nolan Beduhn, Tyler, Cody and Wade Tvedt, Noah and Meredith Hamann, Lucas and Logan Bruna, Hope and Tessa Krause and Flint Clements.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lavonna; three brothers, Elmer, Herbert and Alvin and two sisters, Frances and Myrtle.
