Patsy A. Steffensen, 78, of Lake Norden, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017 at her home under hospice care.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Norden, SD. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday at Geise Funeral Chapel, in Lake Norden.
Patsy Ann (Womble) Steffensen
was born on November 25, 1939 in Perry, Missouri, the daughter of Wilford and Helen (Leake) Womble. As a child, Patsy moved with her family to Watertown, SD. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1957. After graduation, she attended South Dakota State University, where she obtained her Bachelor's and Master's degrees, both in education. She was united in marriage to Larry Steffensen on June 11, 1961 in Watertown. The couple made their home in Lake Norden. Patsy taught at Lake Norden, until it consolidated with Hamlin, School District and continued to teach there until her retirement in 2001 after 40 years of teaching Home Economics.
Patsy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Norden and was very active with the Trinity Lutheran Women, serving as the President. She was also a member of the Live and Learn Club. She loved traveling and reading, but will best be remembered for her passion of helping and caring for others, always making sure they were well cared for. Her greatest love in life was her family; she cherished her grandchildren, and was always following them in their activities.
Greatful for having shared her live are her two children, Kimberly (David) St. John, of Lake Norden, SD and Kasey Steffensen, of Watertown, SD; four grandchildren, Gunner and Greysen St. John, Brody and Jace Steffensen; one sister, Sue Drenkow, of Kirkland, WA and her neieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Larry.
