Foster, son of George and Della (Devitt) Foster, was born October 7, 1935 at Estelline, South Dakota. He attended rural school near Estelline and graduated from Estelline High School in 1953. Paul began farming and then worked construction building grain bins in the area. In 1957 he returned to farming and was united in marriage to Joanne Bruinsma on September 8, 1959 in Estelline. After their marriage they moved to a farm east of Estelline. They moved into Estelline in 1984 and Paul continued to farm with his son Kevin. He died on Monday, May 28, 2007 at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown at the age of 71 years, 7 months and 21 days. He was a member of the United Church of Christ where he served on several church boards. He also served on the Estelline School Board for 14 years, the Estelline Elevator Board for six years and was a member of the Masons. During the late 1970s Paul worked with the ASCS Office assessing crop damage. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Joanne of Estelline; three children, Kevin Foster and his wife Patty of Estelline, Jamie Cronin and her husband Mike of Gettysburg, SD, Greg Foster and his wife Liisa of Rugby, ND; 10 grandchildren, Anne, Brandon and Alex Foster, Tregg, Kirsten, Alyssa and Hallee Cronin, Allison, Landen and Erik Foster; three brothers, Stanley Foster and his wife Jean of Cary, IL, Ronald Foster and his wife Jeanette of Estelline, Kenneth Foster of Estelline; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Bryan, three brothers, Loren, Darrell and Curtis and a sister-in-law, Judy Foster.
