Pauline M. Geranen, 81, of Lake Norden, formerly of Huron, passed away Sunday, February 7 2016 at the Golden Living Center, in Lake Norden. The family will hold a memorial service at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Lake Norden. Geise Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Pauline Magadelene Geranen was born on January 24, 1935 in Manchester, England the daughter of Kenneth and Mary Jo Hamilton. She attended school in Paris at the Notre Dame School for Young Ladies. When the war broke out, the family moved back to Blackburn in Laneshire Province and when the war ended she attended St. Wilfred's Parochial School and graduated in 1952. For 12 years she worked for the U.S. Airforce in Public Relations and traveled through Europe. In 1959, she moved to the United States. In 1967, she met Robert Geranen while attending Huron College. She worked in various restaurants and at the State Fair. She was united in marriage to Bob on March 22, 1969 and resided in Huron until January of 2015 when she moved to Watertown until she became a resident of the Golden Living Center in Lake Norden.
Pauline loved to share her English stories and drinking her tea. She enjoyed flowers, knitting, decorating, shopping and family and friend time. She was proud of all of Bob's brothers and sisters and would tell acquaintances that she had 13 children (all of his family). On the back of a special picture, she wrote, "We are beautiful people. To all of the children in the Geranen family, we love you all." Pauline's favorite saying was, "I see how it is."
She is surived by her husband, Bob Geranen, of Lake Norden, SD; brothers and sisters-in law, Jan (Don) Delaney, of Ft Pierre, SD, Darlene Hawley, of Lake Preston, SD; Donna (Ray) Eide, of Lake Norden, SD, Jean ( Chuck) Seibert, of Shadyside, MD, Roberta (Wayne) Anderson, of Marvin, SD, Marilyn Kinsman, of Pierre, SD; Dale (Marcie )Geranen and Steve (Barb) Geranen, all of Watertown, SD and sister-in-law, Margaret Geranen of Lake Norden; 31 nieces and nephews; 48 great nieces and nephews and 4 great-great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and mother and father-in-law, Ernest and Annie Geranen.
