Pearl A. (Gorder) Watt, daughter of Martin and Cecelia (Floden) Gorder, was born December 28, 1926 in Deuel County, South Dakota. She was baptized in Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline. Pearl attended grade school at Gravning School in Deuel County and graduated from Estelline High School in 1945. She worked at the Hamburger Inn in Watertown, Nation T in Brookings and in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Angus Watt on February 12, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline. Pearl enjoyed being a farm wife, mother and homemaker. She excelled in cooking, baking and canning, especially jellies and jams and lefsa. She and Angus spent many years as winter Texans in Mission, Texas where she canned a lot of orange and grapefruit juice to bring back for the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pearl died on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at her daughter's home in Watertown, South Dakota at the age of 88 years. Pearl was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline and was active in ladies circle and aid. Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Linda Mennenga and her husband LaVerne of Castlewood, SD, Lana Norgaard and her husband Gerry of Watertown, Lori Stanwick and her husband Marty of Brookings, Jeff Watt and his wife Chris of Estelline; nine grandchildren, Lisa, Lexi, Lance, Darcie, Darrin, Kylie, Maggie, Sam and Molly; twelve great grandchildren, Isabel, Isaak, Bailey, Brooke, Brenna, Megan, Briley, Barrett, Kate, Emma, Dylan and Hunter; one sister Olga Lenander of Watertown; three sisters-in-law, Helen Gorder of Watertown, Sue Gorder and Joyes Gorder, both of Estelline; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Angus on April 28, 2008, her parents, four brothers and two sisters. Her funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline. Visitation will be one hour preceding services at the church.
