Obituary

Reid S. Tuohino, 73, of Arlington, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 at Avera St. Luke's Hopsital in Aberdeen, SD. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Norden. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday at Geise Funeral Chapel in Lake Norden.

Reid Spencer Tuohino was born on January, 31, 1942 in Bryant, SD the son of Melvin and Kathryn (Scholl) Tuohino. He was raised on a farm between Lake Norden and Bryant. He was employed for Ellsworth Trucking and Harold Johnson Motor Supply before starting farming in 1962. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Joy Pedersen on June 1, 1963 and they moved onto his great grandparent's farm, the Henry Matson farm and farmed there until his retirement in the fall of 2014. He farmed all of his life and loved being a steward of the Lord's land.

He served on many boards, including Soil Conservation, School Board, Farmers Elevator, Hamlin County Commission, Northbay Association and several others. He received an Award from USDA for Outstanding American Conservationalist. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting and reading western novels.


He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Tuohino, of Arlington, SD, two daughters, Kathryn Gubin, of Warner, SD and Dawn Kruse, of Sioux Falls, SD; one son, James (Jackie) Tuohino, of Tea, SD; nine grandchildren, Aaron, Chad and Brian Peterson, Darin Gubin, Spencer and Tessa Joy Kruse and Andrew, Makayla and Elizabeth Tuohino;  two sisters, Norma Lundquist, of Blaine, MN and Nina (Jerry) Borgen, of New Effington, SD; three brothers-in-law, Dale (Sharon) Pedersen, of Hemet, CA, Alan (Rose) Pedersen, of Walnut Grove, MN an Terry (Diane) Pedersen, of Sheboygan, WI; three sisters-in-law, Jean (Darrell) Fedt, of Deer Wood, MN, Judi Deml, of Rochester, MN and Jewel Christopherson, of Manhattan, KS and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
