Richard H. Dick Langenfeld Castlewood, South Dakota Funeral Service 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, February 2, 2005 American Lutheran Church Castlewood, South Dakota Rev. John Sandstrom, Officiating Interment Castlewood Cemetery, Castlewood, South Dakota Visitation 5PM to 8PM Tuesday at Geise Funeral Chapel in Castlewood Richard Harry Dick Langenfeld, son of George and Ida (Haberly) Landgenfeld, was born February 7, 1938 at Castlewood, South Dakota. He grew up and received his education there and graduated from Castlewood High School in 1956. He attended South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City and South Dakota State University in Brookings before entering the United States Marine Corp on November 29, 1959. Dick spent 22 years with the Marines, including three tours of duty in Viet Nam, two as a helicopter pilot and one tour as a fighter pilot. He was awarded two Distinguished Flying Crosses. He was united in marriage to Robbye Jo Hicks on February 16, 1969 in Pensicola, Florida. After his retirement as a Major in 1982 he returned to Castlewood where he helped run Idas Caf and also managed and cooked at the Castlewood Golf Course. Dick died while fishing on Lake Poinsett on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at the age of 66 years, 11 months and 22 days. He was a member of the American Legion in Castlewood, the VFW in Watertown and a life member of the Marine Corp League in Watertown. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, playing cards and cooking. Grateful for having shared his life are his mother, Ida Langenfeld of Estelline; seven brothers and sisters, Larry L. Langenfeld of Castlewood, Beverly Siefkes and her husband Roger of Boise, ID, Jerry L. Langenfeld of Lake Norden, SD, Delores Vetter and her husband Larry of Castlewood, Gloria Ries and her husband Jerome of Dalhart TX, Wayne Langenfeld and his wife Pam of Watertown, SD and Cynthia Pommer and her husband David of Castlewood; an aunt Mary Haberly of Castlewood; two uncles, Henry Haberly of Estelline and John Langenfeld of Rapid City; 21 nieces and nephews; 16 great nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his father and 2nd mom, Vera Cannon.
