Richard "Dick" Tormanen Lake Norden, South Dakota Funeral Service 10:30 A.M., Monday, July 7, 2003 Evangelical Covenant Church Lake Norden, South Dakota Interment Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery Lake Norden, South Dakota Visitation 4PM to 8PM Sunday at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lake Norden. Richard "Dick" Allan Tormanen, son of Marvin and Marilyn (Thompson) Tormanen, was born June 24, 1955 at Lake Preston, South Dakota. He grew up at Lake Norden and attended schools there. He worked on the family farm and then worked construction for his uncle. Dick was united in marriage to Cindy West on March 15, 1980 in Watertown, SD. They had one daughter, Liza. He then drove truck for H & I Grains out of Hetland, SD for many years and started working for Bratland Seeds and Bratland Farms out of Willow Lake, SD in May of 2001. He was employed there until the time of his death. Dick died in Sioux Falls on Monday, June 30, 2003 at the age of 48 years and 6 days. Dick was baptized and confirmed at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church and was a past member of the Moose Lodge in Ft. Pierre, SD. He enjoyed his family and friends, spending time with his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed farming, listening to country music, rodeos and the excitement of waiting for his grandchild's birth. Grateful for having shared his life are his daughter, Liza Tormanen of Howard, SD; one grandson; his parents, Marvin and Marilyn Tormanen of Lake Norden; twelve brothers and sisters, Pam Marchese of Estelline, SD, Doug (Kathie) Tormanen and Randy (Sherri) Tormanen, all of Lake Norden, Darrell (Kim) Tormanen of Hays, KS, David Tormanen and Nancy (Todd) Bjorklund all of Estelline, Susan (Fred) Reitsma of Lake Norden, Bonnie (Kerry) Kellen of Brookings, Arlene (Doug) Doescher of Arlington, SD, Tracy Tormanen and her fiance Darin Laue of Castlewood, SD, Connie (Trav) Bratland of Willow Lake, SD and Amy (Ryan) Miller of Estelline; several aunts and uncles; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
