Fjerestad, son of Manvil and Jennie (Stahl) Fjerestad, was born February 10, 1942 at Brookings, South Dakota. He grew up on the family farm northeast of Estelline and attended Wattnem Country School and Estelline High School. He began farming with his father and was united in marriage to Barbara Kulcinski on April 4, 1970 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. In 1976 they moved to the family farm and he continued farming until his death. Robert died surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 29, 2003 at the Brookings Hospital at the age of 61 years 4 months and 19 days. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Estelline and enjoyed attending farm auctions, hay sales and was a regular at the Watertown Sale Barns. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Barbara of Estelline; one son, Mark Fjerestad of LaCrosse, WI; one daughter, Heather Neff and her husband Jon of Brookings; three brothers, Jim Fjerestad and his wife Bonnie of Brandon, SD, Mervin Fjerestad and his wife Tricia and Eugene Fjerestad and his wife Wanda , all of Sioux Falls; his mother-in-law, Sally Kulcinski; his sister-in-law, Sandy Herold; his brother-in-law, Steve Kulcinski, all of LaCrosse; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, Steve Kulcinski and a sister-in-law, Jannel Fjerestad.
