Greenfield was born on March 31, 1929 in Castlewood, SD the son of Dick and Reba (Nordmann) Greenfield. Robert received his education in Castlewood. He served in the United States Army from 1951 until 1952 during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Vivian Wellhouse on September 16, 1953 in Castlewood. After their marriage they farmed in Hamlin and Deuel Counties until 1993 when they retired and moved into Watertown, SD. Robert was then employed at the Prairie Winds Golf Course for six years. He died on Sunday, January 11, 2004 at his residence in Watertown at the age of 74 years 9 months and 10 days. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Castlewood where he served as Elder and Trustee and a member of the American Legion Post #250 for over 50 years. He especially enjoyed playing cards, fishing and traveling. Robert is survived by his wife Vivian of Watertown; one son Lonnie Greenfield and his wife Molly of Watertown; two daughters Pamela Tanner and her husband Bill of Castlewood, Patty Whitaker and her husband Bruce of Loveland, CO; nine grandchildren; three brothers Ted Greenfield and his wife Rose of Brookings, Carl Greenfield of Castlewood and Bill Greenfield and his wife June of Tucumcari, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.
