Obituary

Robina Florence (Stanton) Krause, better known as "Biney" to her friends and family, was born September 26, 1912, at Waubay, South Dakota, the daughter of Richard and Anna (Jacobson) Stanton. When she was a small child her family moved to Wolf Point, Montana. They returned to a farm near Summit, South Dakota where she attended country school until she was in the third grade, at which time the family moved to Waubay. She attended Waubay School and graduated from high school in 1932. During high school and upon graduation she worked at several cafes in Waubay, including Watkin's Café, Dad's Café and Leola's Café. After her marriage to William Krause in 1938, they managed a café in Roslyn, South Dakota. They moved back to Waubay in 1939 and made their home there. In 1942 the family moved to Roscoe, California where she worked at the Lockheed Defense Plant as "Rosie the Riveter". The family returned to Waubay in 1944 and remained there until moving to Castlewood in 1951. She loved being with people and worked for several merchants in Castlewood when they needed extra help or a break. She died on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center at the age of 100 years, 4 months and 14 days. Robina was an active member of the American Lutheran Church, the Martha Circle and the ALCW, holding several offices over the years. Biney and William donated the land that American Lutheran Church is now located. She was a member of the Mystery Club and Birthday Club. She loved family gatherings and have coffee with her friends. Robina liked to bake pies, raise beautiful flowers and play cards. Grateful for having shared her life are two daughters, Kay Zimiga of Castlewood and Janet Jones and her husband Robert of Brookings; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband William, her son William Jr., her parents, four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the American Lutheran Church in Castlewood with Rev. William Hamill officiating. Visitation will be from 5PM to 7PM Friday at Geise Funeral Chapel in Castlewood. Burial is in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.
