Roger J. Anderson, 86, of Lake Norden, passed away Friday, October 8, 2021 at Avantara-Lake Norden. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Norden. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday at Geise Funeral Chapel in Lake Norden with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 pm.

Roger J. Anderson was born on the family farmstead on March 19, 1935, near Lake Norden, SD, the son of Jophet and Mary (Hendrickson) Anderson. Roger attended country school before graduating from Lake Norden High School. Upon graduating he began farming with his father. Roger was united in marriage to Donna Anderson on April 22, 1956 at New Hope Lutheran Church in rural Hayti. After his father's passing, Roger took over the family farm continuing to farm until he retired in 2009. During the later years of farming, he also worked part time jobs, driving school bus and driving truck for Davisco, Janssen Trucking and H&I Grain. He also spent time in his retirement caring for his wife of 64 years, Donna.

Roger was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, were he served on the church council, was a past-president of Norden Township and was a member of the HD Electric Board. He was a member of the I-H Collectors Club and attended many tractor shows.

He is survived by his three sons, Jim Anderson of Hayti, SD, Mark (Kim) Anderson of Aberdeen, SD and Rodney Anderson of Hayti, SD; two sisters-in-law, Nelda Popham and Carol Olson, both of Watertown, SD as well as many nieces and nephews.

Roger is preceded in death by his, wife, Donna; parents; brother, George, in infancy; sister, Marcene Hanson and three brothers-in-law, Gerald Popham, Harlan Olson and Melvin Hanson.
