Roger John RJ Carlson Estelline, South Dakota Funeral Service 11:00 A.M., Monday, September 11, 2006 Salvation Army Church Watertown, South Dakota Captain Tim Nauta, Officiating Interment Hillcrest Cemetery Estelline, South Dakota Visitation One hour preceding services at the church. Roger John RJ Carlson, son of Theodore Hilarious and Una Mae (Falkner) Carlson, was born April 24, 1925 at Waukegan, Illinois. He grew up and received his education in that area and attended Agricultural College for one year. Following his education he farmed and drove truck in Illinois for several years. He was united in marriage to June Odle on October 30, 1971 at the Irving Park Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois. They moved to Castlewood, South Dakota in 1973 and later moved to Estelline in 1990. RJ continued to truck until 1995 and then worked as a bookkeeper until the time of his death. He died on Tuesday, September 5th, 2006 at his residence near Estelline at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 11 days. He was a member of the Salvation Army and enjoyed farming, horses and motorcycles. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife June of Estelline; one daughter, Aprildawn May VanWormer and her husband Chris of Watertown, SD; one foster son, Robby Van Wormer and his wife Daisy of Goodwin, SD; three granddaughters, Brittany, Alexis and Hailey; three brothers, Carl Carlson and his wife Kay of Somers, WI, Thomas Carlson and his wife Ilene of Ft. Morgan, CO, David Carlson and his wife Nancy of Gurney, IL; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight children including Teddy Bear on February 5, 1995.
